Flooding
A new version of the Stirling Council online river depth gauge information to help people keep track of likely flood situations caused by the River Forth is online here. Further improvements and explanations will be added in 2012.
- Click on the small graphs and a larger version will appear.
- The water levels should be updated regularly, and during high risk times every 15 minutes.
- Different periods can be viewed e.g. 1 days or 5 days.
- The 'Aberfoyle' graph is near the car park and also reflects water impact on Lochard Road.
(NB the Aberfoyle School graph is not at the road)
- The Duchray monitor often rises before that giving a pre-warning.
- In the future a Loch Ard monitor is planned once permission can be granted for a suitable site.
Strathard Community Council has been actively pressing for investigation and action on flooding in this area for several years and was pleased that we were the first 'at risk' community of 12 in the Stirling area to be visited for 'Flooding Liaison' meetings in September 2010. There was a good attendance by residents at this meeting, which was attended by representatives of Stirling Council, SEPA and the Scottish Flood Forum. A range of actions are envisaged for the future, after discussion at this meeting.
